2 Understanding the Genesis Preferences

2.6 Cost

This section allows you to configure the cost logging option within Genesis. You can set various time-cost bands which are provided by your telephone network.

For instance, if you live in the UK, and British Telecom is your telephone provider, using Monday as a typical example, you might want to send these bands:

FromToDurationCost
00:0009:00600.15
09:0018:00600.40
18:0000:00600.15

Remember that if a new band starts on the hour (ie. 18:00) the old band will also end at 18:00.

The unit duration is the time (in seconds) for each cost duration. For instance, in the UK costs are calculated per minute. A weekend local call charge is currently 1p per minute. In this case, we would enter '60' for our call duration - as we are charged 1p for every 60 seconds we use the telephone.

The unit cost is the amount we are charged for this duration. As in the example above, in the UK a local weekend charge is 1p per 60 second duration. Therefore we would enter '0.01' for the unit cost.
